What started with a few films shown at the House of Italy, the San Diego Italian Film Festival has grown into offering year-round programs in both San Diego and North County that celebrate Italian cinema and culture.

The centerpiece of our programming is the fall film festival, featuring some of Italy’s best contemporary cinema as well as lively conversations. The festival culminates with our biggest party of the year that celebrates the winners of our internationally recognized short film competition.

The Ristretto Awards is the San Diego Italian Film Festival’s internationally recognized short film competition, which features submissions from around the globe that explore the themes of Italian culture and identity.

The San Diego Film Festival organizes screenings throughout the year at the Museum of Photographic Arts at The San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park, the Digital Gym Cinema at UC San Diego Park & Market in Downtown as well as at La Paloma Theatre in Encinitas.
